Come hear everything below the surface that a lay person needs to know about the beloved Outer Cape bivalves. Wellfleet Shellfish Constable Nancy Civetta demystifies this important local industry.
Nancy Civetta grew up (as a wash-a-shore) in Wellfleet, which boasts a vibrant wild shellfishery and more than 120 productive shellfish farms, making the town number one in the state for the value of its shellfish landings. She is familiar with challenges the fishing industry faces and is interested in finding solutions to keep fishermen in business. She has learned the most from fishermen she has collaborated with through the years. She has been the Wellfleet Shellfish Constable for eight years and feels a tremendous responsibility to uphold Wellfleet’s brand name in the world and to preserve a sustainable shellfishery for generations to come. She loves to swim, cook and eat, not necessarily in that order.
Snacks and treats will be provided!
